Last night Kristin and I had a date night planned. Nothing special, just a time to connect and refresh. With Kristin working now and me constantly running around, we have seen each other about forty-five minutes this week and needed that connecting time. We needed to talk about things that we haven’t been able to for a few weeks without being interrupted every three seconds by a tiny voice asking for something. Maybe even just going for coffee would work. It didn’t happen.
With a last minute babysitter cancelation, and lack of other baby sitting options it left us debating how to make a date happen. Kristin had heard of a “kid stop” sort of place, sort of like a day care. You take your kids there, they play, someone watches them and you give them money. We drove by it to check it out, both with a hint of skepticism. After a brief look at the place and the quick realization that it was going to cost even more, our date night turned into family night. Sub-par Mexican food and Super Target.
We walked almost every aisle in the store playing with different toys and answering, “no we can’t get that”. Bought some “Thomas The Train” underwear for a potty training three year old, and were home in time for bed time. Not exactly a reconnecting date night, but a fun night out as a family.
