Let’s Pretend

Let’s pretend, hypothetically of corse, you’re kicking around the idea of starting an internet based company working closely with musicians and their online presence, and need a name. You also need a corresponding domain name. You need it to be “.com” and it can’t be already taken.
What do you call your company? Hypothetically of corse.

What about blogassist.com?
-Kelli
thinking about it… digitalfanbase.com?
How about “blogsong.com” ?
“jamminblogs.com”
I’mactuallyhere.com? I know, I know, kinda weird. l’m not very creative.
blogmuse.com
you want to help them get a blog up and running
you are their muse to help them get started… you give them ideas and what not…
voila!
f.r.e.d.com -friendly rockstar educational device
or: glorystud.com, turninyourcybermullet.com, mygrannydontplaydat.com, bringitdontspankit.com,
rockinthebloggin.com
singablog.com
When I typed that in, one of those annoying advertisements/search/things came up. Me being technologically illiterate…does that mean the domain name is taken for real, or some greedy person is just waiting for you to want it and buy it from them?
I was going to say blogdog.com but it was taken. How bout the simple “brodyblogs.com”?
writeitonablog.com,
rockingandblogging.com,
ICYWAB.com [in case you wanted a blog. yes a cheesy play on words. and icywab is a funny word]
and um…
blogsbybrody.com [alliterations attract all]
I have no good ideas. But have you checked out nameboy.com. It gives you two fields – you put your words in and it comes up with available domains close to your words.
We run a ton of stuff through it, just for fun.
I don’t have any ideas, but a piece of good advice (which you may already know, but it doesn’t hurt to repeat it).
If you find any available domain names that are close to what you might end up with, but you’re still a little undecided, you might consider going ahead and purchasing them right at that moment anyway. Use an inexpensive registrar like Yahoo or GoDaddy and grab them for a year just to start out.
I’ve known lots of people who went and saw an available domain name they liked, but lingered undecided, and next thing they knew it was gone. Often, it was then “for sale” for a much higher price than the sub-$10 registration would have cost you just to hold it for a year. I sometimes wonder if someone somewhere is snooping around and reading search queries for available domains, then buying good ones that come up to put them up for sale.
I’m not good at this type of thing at all .. so I’ve got nothing….but
did you mean to spell course like that twice?
Hmm. How about hypotheticinternetbasedcompanyworkingcloselywithmusicians.com? Bet that’s not taken.
Alymc-
I’m just a horrible speller and if that little red line under misspelled words doesn’t show up I don’t know I need to fix it.
Gotcha. Just thought I would help you out
My eye catches things like that .. it’s annoying.
feedmyboys.com comes to mind, but it has nothing to do with your hypothetical situation.
Beth
webroadie.com

ACEOFBLOGS.COM

http://www.majorblogs.com…And then your slogan could be something like…”Minor Keys, Major Blogs.” Who doesn’t love a nice play on words…major keys, major like big and well-known, major like the guy in charge, etc.
Oh, I think the last one is taken. Oops.
iHarper.com

How about yourbestblognow.com?
Sorry, it’s the best idea I have – and it would probably get you sued.
blogsrock.com
I always liked the phrase “Visible Parable”… I read it once in the Message (Hebrews, I think) and it stuck in my head. Great visual for living life redemptively and on purpose. It’d be great for the consulting biz you’re thinking of because getting an artist to see how much blogging can do for them is a “visible parable” of what they couldn’t see before in on online prescence with an interactive community.
