Writing With Michael
Michael and I have an assignment. We need to write a song reflecting injustice and redemption in the African country Burkina Faso. And make people cry with it.
Some friends of mine have recently been working over there creating a system where houses that are built in America go to help build houses for those in need over there. I was asked to come up with a song to go along with some video that they took a few weeks ago while they were there, and since it would take me about three months to write a song for it, I called in some professional reinforcement. We started writing on Friday last week, and are getting ready to start tracking the instruments.
In the end, it’s going to be a pretty basic deal, but has been really cool to work on. Oh yeah, and Michael has been paying attention to the “But It’s Still Not Happening” series, and has a pretty hot new blog.

Does that sign say “drunk” or is it just my old eyes messing with me?
We have to get the inspiration somewhere man.
It actually says “Drums” but it would be cooler if it said “Drunk”.
hey! i thought you were taking a break from blogging mr. groves…or does that not include posting responses?! Ha…hope your doing well.
I’ve been thinking about sponsoring a child in Burkina Faso. It was their terrible literacy rates that got my attention.
How do American houses help build houses there?
Hey, if you guys need background vocals on your butterfly kisses meets habitat for humanity song thingy, I’ve got a lot of free time now that I’m “not blogging”…and I could always use $50 to get drunk…I mean, drums with on the more difficult days of soft rockin’.
Brody – I have “met” you through your blog and once (in person) on DCB’s tour with Phil in Manhattan, KS. I did not know that you write/perform music yourself. I thought it was more pics/road manager/music biz master/confidant stuff (which btw you are obviously “gifted from on high” at). I can’t believe there’s more! You and your lovely wife are quite the renaissance couple. Blessed, inspiring. Hope to hear more.
Melody
I love the song. Thanks a million.
