Real...hands down...even if I lived in an impossibly inaccessible apartment I would get a real tree in there. I was raised to believe that where there is a will there is a way, and that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me...including having a real Christmas Tree in a situation that did not seem conducive to it. Not to mention it is one of my favorite smells in the whole world. I cannot wait to go get ours!

While I prefer the real ones, since it took me several MONTHS to get the pine needles out of our berber carpet after the last one, we went with artificial. I found a beautiful one at Menards after Christmas last year. It is pre-lit with wonderful "old fashioned" bulbs, only smaller, LCD ones. and since it was the floor model, it was completely decorated! A very colorful, kid-theme. We didn't really need the ornaments, but it came all included for a fraction of the original cost ($800 marked down to $200) and they even packed all the ornaments up for me. If you know of anyone who needs ornaments, let me know and I'll be glad to ship them to whoever needs them.

Artificial (:
My family does not want to spend money to buy a real tree every year. We've had our fake tree for as long as I can remember. My mom does not have the patience to sweep up the needles everyday, either. You may say she doesn't have to everyday and that it can even look nice but...NO. She MUST sweep up the needles everyday. She has cleaning OCD. We also live in a second-story condo so bringing it up and down would not be an easy task. Besides, I live in the South. We're not allowed to have real trees, apparently (:

I like the idea of real ones that you can plant later, but we couldn't find any that weren't huge, or super small.

I do like our medium sized pine smelling tree.

I'm a fan of real trees :-) We lived up north, and we've always had a real tree when we could afford one. Though I was with my sister in her apartment last year, so I made an artificial one out of a green blanket, lava lamp, construction paper, and mardi gras beads... I think it turned out pretty sweet!

I much prefer real trees. But as a single person living in a third-floor apartment, real just isn't feasible. So I have my fake one. With a pine-scented candle burning nearby :)

artificial all the way baby...but I grew up in NC, so I guess that just confirms your southern-people-like-artificial-trees hypothesis.
