FreeRice has two goals:
1: Provide English vocabulary to everyone for free.
2: Help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.

Since the launch of the site on October 7th of this year 3,804,662,490 grains of rice have been given away. I’m no vocabulary genius but it’s a great way to learn some new words, compete with yourself and help give some food away.

hey, thanks for the site.. it was good mental stimulation! I got up to 2600 grains of rice… I would have kept going, but I need to get offline. My top level was 41, while the level I ended on was 37.
I found out about this about a week ago and have been playing lots (just another means of procrastinating on all these papers I have to write…but at least it’s productive!).
I think this is one of the best ideas I’ve heard of in a long, long time.
That site needs to take its place of honor on my Firefox Bookmarks tab. Doing that in 5, 4, 3…
