My friend Michael came over late last night to hang out, talked about his lack of blogging, his new guitar, and what we have both been up to. Inevitably our conversation revolves around music or at least ends up there and my newest album purchase is a result of that.  Emerson Hart’s first solo album. I tried a few times to get it last night but for some reason iTunes was having issues. I downloaded it first thing this morning and it’s been background music for our living room soccer game all morning.51r9dbduw2l_aa240_.jpg

I described to my wife that the entire album sounds like the moody, sentimental part at the end of Scrubs. You know the part don’t you? The part where everything starts making sense and everyone on the show starts learning a deep meaningful lesson and the music helps almost make you cry? I’ve shared too much…

Anyway… ummm yeah… well even if you aren’t into that kind of sappy sentimental stuff, at least go to buy the song, “I Wish The Best For You”, and listen to it over and over. But you should probably just get the whole album.

That is all.

This morning went great thanks to my amazing kids, and my new found power in facial hair. We did all that we needed to do, and even stopped by Smoothie King for a healthy dose of blueberries. They are the super of superfoods you know?

As the day went on we played in almost every room of the house taking things apart, throwing things into a moving ceiling fan and watching it fly, eating tiny bowls of snacks. I had even started getting used to the nauseating smell of partially digested organic whole milk, as I was scrubbing it out of the carpet for the twentieth time.

Then it went south. I knew tonight was trash night so I needed to collect all the trash from it’s respective places and bring it outside and pull it to the curb. I grabbed our bathroom trash, the office, then went into the boys bathroom. I bagged up an uncountable amount of diapers and started to walk out of the bathroom. The last step in the bathroom it happened. My sock slowly peeled off the floor as if it were stuck in some sort of goo. I looked down to see a clear thick liquid puddled on the floor and upon further examination realized that it was an entire bottle of liquid baby soap. The entire bottle and been slowly pouring out all night last night and all day.

So how does one clean something like this up? Well… not with water I can assure you. Turns out, that makes bubbles…

sweet_stash.jpgI found myself this morning asking the question, “I wonder what Tom Selleck would do if he were alone watching his two-year-old and one-year-old and was about to take them out for the morning to toy stores, video stores, and another store to return some stuff?

I thought about it over breakfast. I thought about it while I was feeding Cooper his bottle. Then just as I was getting the boys dressed for the day it hit me.

I said to myself, “Self. I think I might know what Tom Selleck would do if he were alone watching his two-year-old and one-year-old and was about to take them out for the morning to toy stores, video stores, and another store to return some stuff. I’m pretty sure Tom Selleck would grow a sweet stash.”

So that’s what I did. Sure it makes me look a lot more tough than usual. And yeah it makes me look like a cowboy ready to take on some aggressive Indians or something. But you know what? Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. And today is that day.

Thank You for your strength and influence Tom Selleck.

r_virt_hunt_2005005_lg.jpgDay one is in the books.

Nothing is broken and no one is lost. Thanks to Chick-Fil-A and plenty of books, yesterday went pretty smooth… once I figured out that I was putting my two-year-olds pajamas on the baby.

Today I think the plan is to find some movies specific to my two-year-old to rent and maybe take a drive to Toys R Us so we can pick out a “blue ball”. Kristin and Blue made it safely to California, but I know two little boys that miss her.Right now it’s breakfast time and I have a pretty upset baby telling me about it.

Until later…

erin_birthday.jpgMy sister turned thirty yesterday. Thirty. I bet she is weirded out by being thirty today. I think I might be. Today is her first official day of being thirty.

Thirty is a milestone for some reason. I have heard so many times people say “I want to do this by the time I am thirty.” or “When I am thirty I want to have seen this.”. I have a few of those things too, but for the most part I think I am pretty excited about it. I don’t know why but there is something exciting about reaching a real “grown up” age. Where things are “figured out” and your adult life is well underway. Of corse that may change on my first day of being thirty.

Anyway, Happy Birthday Older (as in “now in your thirties”) Sister.

For those readers out there that have crossed the thirty line, what changed when you did, if anything? For those under thirty, what do you expect to happen by the time you reach that day?

jlarosspmafall-01.jpgAs most of you know I have been on the road for the past two months and basically about the entire year before that. Along with that my awesome, hot wife has been home with three very small active boys. And she did an amazing job. She didn’t loose anyone, the house looks great, and from the looks of them they have eaten well and healthy. That may all be about to change.

Tomorrow morning Kristin and our oldest son Blue are getting on a plane and heading to California for a week. One of Kristin’s friends from there had a baby last week, and she is going out to see the baby and hopefully recover from two months of juggling an entire household alone. See, what this means for me is… it’s time for an adventure. I will be home alone with the two younger boys. Aiden (2 almost 3) and Cooper (just turned 1).

The way I see things going are lots of inside games, movies, snacks and early mornings. All of which I am excited about, but I’m not going to lie. I’m afraid to loose someone. I’m ready though. I have mentally prepared for the amount of diapers that will come my way. The elevated need for strong coffee, and everything else that comes with dealing with small people.

Now, I know there are probably some dads out there that may do this all the time, and I commend you. There are also probably those dads out there thinking, “What a baby, that’s not that big of a deal”. Well maybe it isn’t. But you would be a little nervous too. But I’m ready. I’m rested. I’m prepared for adventure. And I have no idea what the picture has to do with this post.

I will try to make this a well documented adventure. Partly for the readers and partly for my wife checking in from California. Who knows, something amazing might happen.

the_myriad.jpg

I got an email tonight and about five minutes after I got the email I got a call from another one of my friends in The Myriad. Here is what the email said:

We just got the call from MTV New York and we made the Top 3 and are now finalist in MTV2’s 2007 Dew Circuit Breakout. We will be performing live from Times Square NY on MTV2 on December 15th and after the performance the winner will be announced. The TOP 3 bands start with a blank slate for votes in this final round. Votes from today until December 15th determine the winner. MTV get’s behind the winner and really helps excel their career as this years ‘breakoutband’ including promotions all year long as well as a music video on regular rotation shot by MTV in Times Square.

Thanks for all your help with this.

jeremy

Here’s the deal. This is a pretty huge deal for them and since it’s all based on a voting system, that’s exactly what they need. Votes. I know that every computer is allowed to vote 100 times a day and I know there are plenty of people out there bored at work or school, wondering what they can do to pass the time.

A solution. You’re welcome.

In my opinion, the thought of these guys popping into a scene littered with no-talent crap is exactly what MTV needs. These guys are the real deal. They are straight forward amazing guys that love people, love God, and deserve to win. So there’s the challenge. Go here and vote 100 times today… then tomorrow… then the next day.

Who’s with me?

free_rice.pngFreeRice has two goals:

1: Provide English vocabulary to everyone for free.

2: Help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.

This is made possible by the sponsors who advertise on this site.

Whether you are CEO of a large corporation or a street child in a poor country, improving your vocabulary can improve your life. It is a great investment in yourself.

Perhaps even greater is the investment your donated rice makes in hungry human beings, enabling them to function and be productive. Somewhere in the world, a person is eating rice that you helped provide.

Thank you.

Since the launch of the site on October 7th of this year 3,804,662,490 grains of rice have been given away.  I’m no vocabulary genius but it’s a great way to learn some new words, compete with yourself and help give some food away.

Go Here To Play, and to help. What’s your score?

Yesterday we got our Christmas tree… at Lowes. I don’t know if it’s more of a tradition here in the South to have an artificial tree but there are not that many places to get live trees, so Lowes it was. We have an artificial tree from last year, but for some reason this year I wanted something that smelled like a tree. I wanted something that dropped it’s needles on the floor. Something that wasn’t proportionate on both sides.

We drove around a bit and only found one tree place that was being run to support boy scouts or something, we walked around looking at all the trees and realized that everything they had was too big and priced according. With a new one year old crawling around it’s important that we have the tree on a table above little fingers. Finally we ended up at Lowes and found the perfect disproportionate, pine smelling, needle dropping tree. We brought it home, made some hot chocolate, unpacked the decorations and bought this CD.

Are you a real or artificial Christmas tree family?
