It is illegal to hunt camels in the State of Arizona…. in case you were wondering.
Okay, then we are definitley not vacationing to Arizona…
Lesson learned in my college Texas History class: during the Civil War, the Confederate army brought over camels as a more rugged replacement for horses in places like Texas, etc. They were, however, too stubborn and ended up being released into the wild. Up until the early to mid 20th Century there were wild camels to be found in Texas.
I’m glad you shed some light on this one… I had no idea there may be camels here…. and apparently enough of them to merit a law to not hunt them.
