Good Monsters, Good Music.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nT0cnQve-P4]

Jars of Clay has been a favorite band of mine since the beginning. The lyrical content of one album alone rivals most bands entire careers. They are artists in the true form. This post goes beyond my “Music I Wish I Had Written” series and deserves it’s own post. This is a band that has not only written several songs that I wish that I had written, but continues to be a staple of the type of musicianship and artistry I can only one day hope to attain.

    I’d love to read your review of the new album. I don’t have it yet, but the few things I’ve heard have been beyond glowing.

    Wondering if those takes are accurate. I love JoC, but kinda wish they’d kept producing stuff with Adrian Belew, like the best stuff on the first CD…

    Best,

    Brant.

    I actually don’t have the album yet either. I have been reading all the reviews and have heard the same things you have. Honestly, I hope it lives up to the hype. I think if I had to pin down a favorite album though, I would have to go with “Who We Are Instead”. There was something so raw and “rootsy” about that album.

    Can I say “rootsy”? Is that a word?

    When I get it, I will make sure to throw a review on here. Based on their past, I would have think it will be good. At the very least their video making skills have improved.

    Brody, I’m planning on writing a review of this sometime this week for my blog. I think it is their best album, and I’ve have really been enjoying it.

    I would love to get a copy of that… let me know. I can’t wait to pick it up, but I have been pretty slammed busy.
